Default Paint for headliner?

What kind of paint is everyone using for their headliner?
Spray? Roller?

Also, whats the best technique for removing the sticky foam?

on the fabric or the metal roof?

For the fabric, the SEM coatings could work ok, but the foam and adhesive usually deteriorate and it's just better to replace it all. I never tried headliner, but I've seen SEM products work out fine on vinyl, plastic, and carpet.

For the metal, I don't have any experience. I've seen bedliner stuff, but don't really get the point of it. I have good results in general with VHT Chassis and Roll Bar Paint in "Satin Black." It dries fast, isn't especially prone to dripping or running, and always looks even. The "Gloss Black" isn't too glossy but it gives an uneven sheen. I use the satin on bumpers, sliders, axles, rods, arms, all kinds of undercarriage stuff. It makes junk look brand new.

Saw a thread on another forum recently. Used stiff brush and/or abrasive pads for removal of foam. Latex house paint applied with rollers and brush. The OP took a piece of his old headliner to paint vendor for paint to match color.

Most of the one's I've read about use a stiff brush to remove it.

I've seen people roll on bedliner, spray on bedliner or use the bedliner in a spray can.

I fiberglassed the headliner after removing the fabric, then used a paint sprayer to apply chalkboard paint.

I used a rotary brush in a drill followed by a wire brush for the remnants. Used a spray gun and regular interior paint.

I used a quart of white primer (3 coats rolled on I believe) and at least two cans of beige nothing fancy spray paint. I also had to remove the jump seats to get the roof back in without putting creases in the paint. I think it turned out great. Definitely a LOT better than an attempt at applying new fabric would have been.

I was thinking of using the resin to make the lining hard then paint as well.

I rolled some Kilz primer on last night. First I had to scrape off some Gorilla glue or spray foam that the PO had used to temp fix the fabric.
Going to grab some tan spray paint and finish up this evening.
