Default paint problems

has any body had problems with paint on there land rover ?
i have a 6 month old freelander and got some bird lime on the roof it was on the car for no longer than 48 hours when i washed the car it hat taken the paint of to the metal have put a claim in to land rover but they say it my fault as i did not wash it off as soon as it happend

I've had the same result on a Landcruiser and a Nissan Pintara. They both lost paint after bird/bat droppings on the paint. Think it depends on what the birds were feeding on. Same thing also happened from an egg thrown at the Landcruiser while travelling resulting in paint loss and a line of chips I guess from the shell.

Rover is correct, that is not their fault.
I would suggest you lightly rub out what you can, then clay bar the whole vehicle finishing it off with the best wax you can buy.
Wax it once a year afterwards.
