Default racing engine question

I have a 1996 Disco with the early production computer (there were two used this year and my vin is under 181978.) I am getting an error code of p0441 (purge valve incorrect) and the engine is racing and is idling above 2200 rpm. I was told that a bad purge valve could also cause my engine to race. So I replaced it and it is still racing.

Here is my question:

I replaced the ECU after the old one wouldnt send information to the OBDII. When I was talking to someone about it they said that I would probably have to take the computer to the dealership and have them program it. When I called the local dealership the service manager told me that my computer "probably" didn't need to be reprogramedbecausewith my computer they didnt need to do it. Is he correct? If so is anyone of you a witch doctor and tell me what the heck is going on with this car?

Default RE: racing engine question

A 441 is incorrect purge flow, not incorrect purge valve. Take care of your bad purge valve and you should be fine.
As for the idle, check for vacuum leaks, check and clean your stepper motor and the t/body.
