Thumbs down Range Rover Sport HSE Brake wire sensor

Hello everyone!!

A very weird thing happened to me yesterday. I have a range rover sport HSE from 2006.

I went to a shop with my car to change the brake pads because the beep and the light warning was already ON. However, at the end when the car was ready the mechanic comes up to me with the front and rear broken brake wire sensors in his hands saying that usually the wires tend to break when the brake pads are changed, and that I need to buy new ones. Which cost $70 each. The shop was not a Land Rover dealer.

Does anyone knows if this is normal to happen or if the guy is trying to deceptive me?

What should I do?

Hope somebody can help me!

Thank You

Joao

its normal. i sell a sensor with every brake job... and seeing as the light was already on, you needed the sensor, even if he hadnt broken it, it was bad, once its tripped, its done

The brakes tend to wear into the sensor. You need to get new ones.

Default Brake Job

Similar subject but not exactly. Anyone ever change the brakes and pads on a 06 RRS HSE? I'm normally a do it yourselfer, but when something like a break job runs $1200 it makes me wonder if there is a higher qualification required?
