Greetings all.

As usual, my deadline for inspection passed yesterday and both vehicles have engine lights on.

'01 Disco II SE7 ran codes: 0171, 0174, 0734 a few months ago when light came on. Can I do something to clean MAF? Or should I just get new one?

Also, and this is really stupid... I can't seem to get air filter cover off to replace air filter. I have no recollection of when it was changed last. Could it simply be old air filter causing this?

I unhook the 2 clamps to MAF. I unhook the 2 clamps on filter housing. It looks like there are 2 tabs on front side of filter housing and I'm not sure what level of brute force to apply to disengage the tabs. Are they sort of hinges? Do I push MAF away while pulling air hose to front while lifting a bit to separate the MAF from filter housing/hose?

Advice appreciated!

You have to replace the MAF, a Bosch MAF can't be successfully cleaned.
As for removing the top, i take the 2 MAF clips off, remove the 2 air filter box clips and pull the MAF up a little so you can pull the nose of the air filter top up.
Call Tony at Cerrones, 650-365-4145, he still has the best price on line at around $160. Tell him Mike says HI.

Hi Mike,

I emailed Tony earlier this morning - waiting on price. Thanks.

I got filter housing open and under the old air filter there was a pile of pine needles, leaves, and previously chewed acorns.

Is it often that critters sneak in under wheel well? Should there be some kind of screen to keep them out?
