Default SRS problems and leaking heater core

I'm new to the forum, looking for my first help! Just purchased a 2001 Discovery II SE7. Needs a little TLC, but overall in good condition. My first project was to tune up the engine - new plugs, oil change, etc. When I took it for a test drive, I noticed the SRS warning lite is on the dash and the cruise doesn't work now. I'm guessing something got bumped/unhooked. Any suggestions?

Also, I knew it had a leaking heater core, so have temporarily bypassed with a piece of copper tubing. Any words of wisdom when it comes to removing the dash and replacing the heater core?

heater cores are a pain in discos, you got some bad luck, ive worked on probably over a thousand different ones, and replaced 1 heater core, not fun. anyway, youre going to need to get your srs codes read to be sure, and make sure that you're using the you have the cruise master switch turned on, but if theyre related its going to be your clock spring behind your steering wheel, if you have a fault for driver frontal airbag, its the clockspring. if not, then its going to be a pretensioner, and can generally be corrected by some di-electric grease in the connector.

So the cruise issue was just a newbie goof on my part. Yup, the master switch on the dash was off. I'm picking up an OBDII reader this week, so will check out the codes.

unless youre spending big money, youre not going to be able to read your srs codes, standard code readers will only read engine and trans codes

ya the srs your probably going to have to take it to the dealer to read the code.if you do the heater core just remeber which connectors go to what.im done 1 core with out pulling the dash but its just easier to remove it.

I hooked up my OBDII reader, cleared the codes, drove for a couple hours on the highway. SRS is still on and although the service light isn't on, Code P1590 (rough road code?) is still on. Guess I will have to take it to the dealer.
