Default Starting

I have a 96 Disco that has a problem starting. Not sure if it is the fuel pump or the starter. It eventually starts after a few minutes of starting and pumping the gas pedal. Need help any suggestions?

If the engine turns over it is not the starter.
From your statement, sounds like you have little experience, but there are a couple things you can do. Change your fuel filter, if you are still having problems, send me your tele number and I'll call and walk you thru some other ideas.

First, you shouldn't be pumping the accelerator when you are starting it.
Second, need a better description of what it's doing.
Does it crank at normal speed and just wont start?
Does it crank slowly and then eventually starts?

In the morning when i first try to start it. It turns over but doesnt stay running it putts then shuts off. After my 5th time of turning on and shutting off it stays on. And after that it runs fine. But once in a while it will go to a extremely low idle and i would have to give it some gas (gas pedal) to keep it running.

So when was it last tuned, what have you done to find the problem? Consider cleaning out the t/body and remove and clean the idle control unit.
If you still have problem, PM me your tele number and I'll call you.
