I have a 2003 Freelander with 127000 miles and I love it. It is the best driving vehicle I have ever had. However - I have an intermittent starting problem that my mech says is a problem with the security module communicating with the key or starter. Sometime it will take up to 10 minutes to start, holding the key in start position the whole time. It will also go for weeks starting on the first try. Any thoughts?

 

I realize this is an older thread, but did you ever get the problem figured out? I seem to be having the same problem with my '96 discovery.
