Default steaming exhaust

help im new to this computer world. can anyone give me advice on my disco2 td5 it,s got 80.000 thousand mile,s full land rover history . in the mornings when first started it steams from the exhaust and theres a smell of anti freeze after about ten minutes running it clears up. It do,s not overheat even towing a heavy trailer go's fine and has no power loss. i have started topping up the headertank every week now . . to me it sounds like the head gasket has started to go but i can not understand why it is not overheating which i took to be a sign for the head to have go.If this is the case' would i be able to replace the gasket my self i have some experiance with engines and have replace a head gasket on a petrol car before if so would i need any special tools uther than a torque wrench hope this gives a good discription off my problam please excuse the spelling and such look forward to any advice given thanks for now

Yes, you have a failing head gasket, take it to a good shop, there are a cople quick tests they can run to verify the problem.
Do it sooner then later so you don't do any head damage.

I haven't worked on a diesel before so I won't be much help. But go to a shop and have them presure test the coolant system for internal leaks inside the engine, only take 5 minutes then at least you will know if you have a problem.
