Default Stereo reading - - - - - ?? Help please

Hey everyone,

Well i just got my first Land Rover. Its a 1999 Ranger Rover 4.6 HSE

Im having an issue with the stereo though. When i got it the battery was no good so i had to get a new one and when i put the new one in the stereo read code like theyre suppose too. So i went to put the code in without reading the directions, and messed up so i pressed a bunch of buttons to try and reset it or something and now its just reading - - - -

I tried disconnecting the battery and left it for an hour and a half seeing if that would reset it and nothing. Then called Land Rover and spoke with someone and they said try leaving the key in ACC for an hour and then turning it off and removing it from the ignition and that didnt work either.

So if there is anyone who can maybe give me some help i would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance

I tried that and it did not work. Is there like a special way i have to do it? Like unlock the door with the key then put it in acc for an hour then turn it off get out lock the door then unlock it then try or does none of that matter? Does the radio have to be on?

I messed up putting my code in once and I left the Radio on with the key in the acc for a little over a Hr then put the code in it worked.

You can drive if you are going to go more than an hour, the radio has to be on.
