Default Surging and running lean

I have a Range Rover that when you take off from a dead stop it hesitates and it has a real light skip. Also when you get to around 52 and 55 mph it starts surging. I took the plugs out and they are very white and I know it is running really lean. I have tried everything to get the surging fixed, I have replaced just about everything but nothing has helped it. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what could be causing this problem??? Thanks a lot!

Default RE: Surging and running lean

Hey...my land rover does the same thing...i'm not sure if yours has this same problem...but what's going on with mine is that the injectors are bad...It always gives me a hard time starting, and at higher speeds, i can feel it skipping...so what I'm gonna do is clean the injectors...if that doesn't help...I have to replace them...which will suck...$90.00 each! but my rover also has about 165,000 miles on it You could possibly look at your injectors...but i may be wrong...but hopefully this helps you out a bit....also..do you have the right plugs in it??

If petrol, it could also be the carbs.. if it is not an injection model.

It does sound like a fuel starvation problem, so would point to the injectors, or fuel pump/fuel filter in the fuel tank.
