Default timing cover question??????

HI all

I have a 99 dicovery11 not knowing any better a order a new block for the truck put it all back together but found i had ordered a Bosch block well with help from this site i made it work after a year truck ran good till i spun a bearing tour it down again put it all back together installed oil gauge this time but the oil reads 45psi at start then drops after op temp is reached.
i get 20 psi at 2500 rpm hot to about 6psi idle hot. so now i ordered a new oil pump gear.

I know i should have ordered it the first time but anyway,

But my question is this!!!

i am looking at Bosch timing cover and they have the sump pick ups built into the covers. this engine is set up with the oil sump in the block half way back drivers side its the short sump tube not the long front tube so whats going on here,if this is a 2001 Bosch engine why does it use a short sump that connects to the block and why did my gems oil pan fit? very confused!!!

PLEASE HELP!!

you have a 99 D1 or D2 ?
a d2 would have been a Boshe engine a D1 would be a GEMs.
both blocks are the same except for the location of the CKS,
you should be using whatever timing cover can on the truck.
have you check the accuracy of your new gauge?
does the oil light come on at OP? if not you have over 7psi.

hi thanks for the response. I have a 1999 D2 gems changed it to the 2001 bosch engine. I know because I had to change the cam gear and the cps back to the gems.

yes my gauge is good I installed two electric and a mechanical
I put a new oil pump in,, now at OTemp I get 12 psi idle and 25 psi at 2500 rpm
my oil light never worked plus im using the sending hole for the gauge.
the oil relief spring is to spec

Thanks again

OK better, a D1 with a Boshe replacement block.

which you spun a bearing on, crank, rod or cam bearing ?
what did you do to repair the damaged bearing?

you have installed a new oil pump and have lousy oil pressure?

replaced crank shaft with a good used one. replaced piston's with good used ones I used same rings and the rings had 7k miles on them. also cam is new. I have 180psi on all cylinders replaced bearings main and rod. inspected cam bearing they looked fine, cleaned all oil ports out even the oil cooler in rad.
checked bearing clearances, used lock tight on caps checked end float and ring gap. cleaned vales and valve seats, replaced valve seals and checked springs.all new gaskets and head bolts, 15psi 90deg waited 1/2 hr then another 90deg used new bolts on heads. oil pick up cleaned and sealed. installed new oil pump and checked relief spring.
I did what the manual said.

"replaced crank shaft with a good used one." did you have it polished or ground?
"checked bearing clearances" with plasticgauge or a micrometer?
