Default tire question

97 land rover discovery. Have 235-70-R16 tires on vehicle. Work fine friend had 265-75-R16 tires and put them on and sway bar scrapes tire when turning. Checked rin and its 1" deeper went to tire place to have tires switched to other rims and they said I would have same problem. Someone at work said put wheel spacers on. Any help will be appreciated.

Ok let me see if i can make this the easiest for you , the 265' went 1 inch more to the inside of the fender as you said ( that's a positive offset ) , what you need to do is get a rim with a lower # offset on it , ( the off set is the placement of the rim on the hub ) the lower the offset # the more outer it is ( negative ), likewise if you have a standard offset , the after market 265' wont work efficiently , so you need to check behind the rim and see what # you have and lower the # accordingly ( you need a more negative offset ), the down side is your ride will be really dirty when it rains , because the tires will be further out now... but you cant have your cake and eat it right !.................. see attached hope that helps ...

oh and as for the spacers , it will work yes , ( the bolt on ones )
