Default Today's Success and Failure

Had a good day today.. After going thru my entire front end and not fixing my death wobble..I decided that the stuck track rod keeping me from getting the proper alignment was the problem...

Took the track rod off last night and filled it with a 50% mix of atf and acetone... Screwed a bung in and pressurized it... hit it a buch of times with a hammer to "ring" it and vibrate the oil into the stuck adjuster.
Got that apart and the front end properly adjusted this morning.

Took it for a test ride.. Death Wobble Gone ! Steers good. Tracks good..

I drove around for about 20 minutes proud as a peacock and was going to go home and change the oil.. Stopped at the post office and when I came out.. No Start.. Deadish battery.. Cranks but just barely...

So. I got the windows up. Locked it up and walked 2.5 miles home..

I knew the alternator was acting up. But I took it apart and cleaned it up and thought I had it fixed.. I didn't notice if or when the tach dropped out..

I'll get it home tonight when the wifey gets home from work..
Guess I'll pull the alternator and take it to somebody who knows what he's doing..LOL !

Success and failure all wrapped up in the same half hour..

On the positive side. I walked that 2.5 miles in a little over half an hour.. And I didn't drop dead...
