Default tow & hitch pkg $$$$$$???

Hi,

My boyfriend owns a 2004 Range Rover. It is our 8yr anniversary and he has been wanting to get the tow stuff on it because we have a Ski Centurian, Hurricane. We have been using the Escalade this entire time and it's time to start using the rr. I know nothing about this and was wondering if anybody could tell me how much it would cost if I take it in to the dealer to get it all done. Or, do I just buy some kind of tow package and he puts it together. I am just worried about the wiring and stuff. I am pretty sure he can handle putting it together, but if there isn't that much difference in price and it is very time consuming for him, would the dealer be better to do this.
What prices am I looking at????????

Thank you so much,
Rachel

Rachel.
I think what you are wanting to do is great, he is a lucky guy.
So, go look at the back bumper and see if the is a square receiver where you would normally put the trailor ball.
He may have the trailor package that would include all the wiring needed, if not, I wouldn't suggest you take it to the dealer, talk to a couple of good trailer hitch installation shops.
If you want, you can call me and I will walk you thru what you need to do.

Ok, just read your post to me, thank you so much. Well I did go to the dealer and it will cost me $430 for the wire stuff and labor. I can go get my own adapter a lot cheaper probably on line, just need to see how many pins I have.
He does have the set up underneath the back. I tried to hint around the entire subject and he says he has to look under the car and see if he has the wires. So, I'm assuming the car doesn't have wires and I do have to buy the wire assembly and then he just puts it together, correct.

I will actually try to call you.

Thx,
Rachel

I had a wiring kit installed at U-Haul for about $80. That was parts AND labor. Although I have a '96 discovery. I might think twice about having the U-Haul guys poking around in there if I had a brand new Range Rover.

Mike, I was looking at buying a wiring harness for my 00 Disco. There are several out there and I am not sure which one is required. The one from the dealer is 99$. I found one at the local autozone for 39$ but is says it will have to hook up to the battery. Any advice?

If you are looking to get a decent set up with little effort to instal it, I would suggest the dealer, Atlantic British. Com or Rover connection.Com.
Many times when you buy the cheap set ups it still requires extra wiring or work to complete.
