Transmission Oil Temp Light - Getting Hot

Transmission Oil Temp Light - Getting Hot
I have a 2001 Disco II. At low speeds (15 - 40 mph) in places like parking lots, neighborhoods, slow moving or stop and go traffic, etc, the tempearature gauge moves towards and occasionally into the red. When the vehicle is in park, the temp drops slowly and going at higher speeds (50-75MPH) on the interstate the temp gauge quickly returns to normal.
No funny noises, knocking, anything like that.
I have had the coolant checked, its good.
Any Thoughts?

So how many miles do you have on your truck, have you checked the electronic cooling fan, is it siezed up or does it spin OK? How about your main fan, have you checked to see if the hub is OK with no loosness? Did you recently have your coolant changed? When sitting cold at idle, if you turn on your heater to the hotest position, do the heater blow hot as the engine warms up? If not, will it blow hot once the engine warms up, if you run the rpm's up to 2000?
Get back to me.

Disregard - I found the problem.
While checking the fan clutch as recommended by the Land Rover tech, I found the problem myself.
When I asked the guy at the oil change place to check to see if the coolant needed to be flushed and replaced, I erroneosly assumed he would also check the coolant level. Seems the quality was fine, there just wasn't enough of it.
I filled it to the line, everything works fine now. Thanks for the reply.

So, you most likely still have a problem. If your coolant level dropped that low you are burning off too much coolant, I would be concerned about your head gaskets which are a known problem in Rovers.
If you start to get a gurgling sound coming from your dash, or if the heater stops working at idle or if your coolant level drops again, you will need to get that checked.
