Default V-Belt Power steering conversion question

I've read the thread on using the chevy power steering pump instead of the factory one. But in all those threads it seems to be a serpentine belt pump that's being replaced. Does anyone know if the same mod works on a 3.9 w the V belt set up? I'm worried about the pulley and the alignment of the belt too. Can I use my original pulley no problem?

I'm aware the distributor is in the way of the required 90 degree fitting. I'm hoping to work around that by using a molded 90 hose.

For the record who ever designed this p/s bracket set up should be back handed. I was going to modify the bracket in hopes of being able to get a 1/4 socket from the front on the ridiculous nut behind the distributor. Maybe notch it a bit?

Some one used the actual pump to tighten the belt thus ruining the pump precisely the way it says not to in the manual.
