Who knows about v138 jlr mangoose?

I recently bought a second hand 07 v8. Unbelievable that the engine light came on a few days later! I want to read engine but don't want to go to the dealer. The car just makes me broke, can't afford that repair bill So I found this tool online, the price is attractive, said it can read land rover up 2005, but I do not know if it really works. Can anyone tell me more about it? Vehicle list? Installation? Upgrade?

I'm disappointed that no one here helps. I asked the same question in another forum and learned that the tool works but can't be upgraded. Anyway, ordered one already, will share my opinions here when i got it.
