Default What in the world have I done now...

Ok so on my 2000 4.0 Disco I upgraded to Magnacor 8mm wires and while I was in there I replaced the valve cover gaskets and cleaned the IAC, as I did so the Iac would make a noise like something was moving freely. It didn't seem to do that before I cleaned it. For some reason the truck will not start (and yes I hooked the wires back up correctly). there were several threads on proper wire diagrams for the coil and firing order as well as consulting my RAVE book. There is now a buzzing, vibration coming from my IAC while the key is on, like a pump that is locked up. It does crank and will try to start for a few seconds while first cranking, but then just cranks. If I disconnect the IAC from the intake it sounds like a back fire through the intake, popping but not loud. Could someone please give me a hard time for doing something wrong. Thanks!!

first off what did you use to clean out the IAC. If you used brake cleaner or any strong petroleum solvent you may have caused internal damage. The "popping" in the intake indicates you have some plug wires crossed. What did you use as a guide to install the new wires?

Thanks in advance dougwrench55, for your assistance. I used carb and choke cleaner on the IAC, and was using a schematic from a thread somewhere. I really would have thought my RAVE book would have had one, but no. I found a schematic that explained that it should be viewed from inside of the cab, so switched the plugs on the coil around a viola it started. I was hoping that would have fixed my idle issues, but it still idles a little rough and always idles a little more rough after acceleration. I need to get my codes read again, since the light came back on after resetting after the wires and new O2 sensors. I'm leaning toward the MAF or I did jack up my IAC. Oh well....
