Default Wont turn over then overheats!

First: when put on turn signal, buzzing noise, misc lights came on in the dash.
Then: started most of the time but not all
Then: last 3 days, difficult to start, took an hour last time headed to the repair shop
Finally: Got to repair shop re: starting issue, while waiting about 3-5 minutes for repairman, vehicle began spewing water and steam. Parked vehicle immediately.

Repairman called: Said code 1470 shows up when hooked up to diagnostic equip but he has no clue what the code means. Unsure which issue it has to do with. Cannot drive vehicle...says we must tow it 40 miles to a dealership. Said he tried to add antifreeze but it came out as fast as he poured.

HELP!!!!

How do we find out what the codes mean?? Do we have to use a dealership?

Our vehicle: 2003 Land Rover 79k miles - just bought used but carfax showed great maintenance record.

I can't find a 1470 code. You need to find a shop that is used to working on Rovers other then the dealer who will rape you with charges.
