2008 Lr2, Transmission oil leaking
Hi! Here again! I identify two places where the lr2 is leaking oil. I believe that the two drops come out of the transmission. I want to measure how much oil the transmission has, but I don't know which dipstick is correct.
Please, can someone tell me what it is?
Can i, refill the transmission oil, through the dipstick?

Is this a an i6 3.2L engine?
If so...
There are several possible fluids in that area...
1. Engine oil (that's what it looks like, although no way to tell for sure from a pic). Will smell like engine oil.
2. Transmission fluid.
3. PTU(front transfer case oil (will smell like gear oil, ie sulfur). PTU is the box attached to the rear driveshaft.
You probably want to jack the vehicle up, remove the splashguard, wipe everything down real good and start the engine to see if you can spot where the leak is coming from. Fluid will get blown around when the vehicle is moving, so where it's dripping may not be where it's leaking.
Engine oil, good chance it's the vacuum pump, that's actually an easy DIY fix:

If you really think it's the tranny, here's info on draining and filling that. There is no dipstick, you can read this thread for info on how the level is set (it's complicated). There's no easy way to just top it off on a regular basis, so you'll need to get the leak fixed.

It could also be power steering fluid, that equipment is all near the front the engine but could blow back. IIRC that's red-ish when new. If it's a power steering leak (check the reservoir level), good chance it's the pump but could be the steering rack too. Once the leak is fixed you need to replace the PS fluid and the reservoir (important!) on a regular basis. The reservoir has a a filter inside which can only be replaced by replacing the res itself. If you don't do that the pump will fail.

First verify that the Vacuum pump isn't leaking
The Pump is on the end of the engine attached to the cylinder head and it is very close to the AC compressor and it is very close to the battery.

Take a picture if you can.
The pictures that I took were with several items removed but you should be able to tell if it is covered in oil.
For reference the first picture is from my LR2 and the second is from my S80 with the same engine as my LR2.

PS My LR2 Vacuum pump has never been rebuilt and I have owned my LR2 since new in 2008. I do use a high quality synthetic oil only (Mobil 1 0W40 However I suspect that there a many oils that would have had the same result but none of them can be found at the $19.95 oil change rip off) And the S80 I bought used and apparently the previous owner was very familiar with the fallacy of a cheap oil change.

Wow! Gentlemen, it is good that I am subscribed to this forum. Is the best! The information that you provide me, is complete and specific. I see that I have to clean and investigate first where the oil comes from. There is much work to be done!

what transmission oil have you guys used in the lr2 3.2 se? I do not want to pay $60 per liter, what cheaper alternatives work and do i need to change the pan along with the fluid?

Valvoline MaxLife Multi-Vehicle (ATF) Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid, $30/gallon. If you still want cheaper you might as well just set fire to the truck and be done with it. Why would you change an entire pan just because you changed the fluid?
