Default Broken Camshaft and valve cover on 2013 LR2

I had posted about a timing chain job that I had got done end of 2024 by Independent Motors in smithtown NY. 7000 later they put faulty cheap parts on the LR2 and had to redo the whole thing. Ride still was not perfect. So now a year later with minimal driving car Lr2 had to be towed to a shop. We noticed major oil leak. Was told camshaft busted and cracked valve cover which is why we have the leak. At this point im thinking of taking them to court. I reached out and got nothing back. 7000 should have just went to the dealer. They quoted us at 3500 which ended 7000 out of pocket. Any suggestions.

Yup, court. Do not wait. There is no reason to go back to that shop, period. They can not make things right. $7k could have got you a whole different very low milage engine.

Yup. I ended up paying less than $6k to swap my entire engine, including the cost of the replacement engine with shipping to the shop, Accel Automotive in Waltham MA. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ shop.

Lawyer up and smack them. Hard. I know I would.

Timing chain failures are not common. Just curious, what is the mileage on your LR2? Do you tow?

We are at 190000 right now! We went in for a brake issue after changing brakes and brake booster ... brake pedal was super hard to press. So they suggested the whole timing chain job. Truck never had any engine problems so they were the first people to ever work on our engine. We got regular oil changes. After spending 6500 and there first job failed due to bad parts we had no choice to go back. Then the truck was shaking so we took it back they charge us 600 more saying it was the solenoids which I questioned why it wasn't included with the new timing chain kit. I know he was full of **** so we paid it. So we drove minimal and now a yr later camshaft breaks and valve cover which gave us major oil leak.

That's a big leap from a brake booster to a timing chain. If the judge in your court action is mechanically savvy, you should get a favorable outcome.

Yeah at this point I wouldn't do any extensive bottom-end (or even top-end) work on these motors, not worth the investment given the risk... going to be hard to find a shop who really knows what they're doing. Better to just get a reputable used engine.
