Car alarm goes off randomly
2010 LR2
The car alarm goes off randomly...usually early in the morning. Tied off the bonnet sensor and it still does it. Could it be a low battery in the fob? Essentially, I need a new fob, correct? You can't really replace the battery.?
Thank you!

Thank you. But if I tied them together (grounding them out), I should be good, right??
Thanks!

Right. That will confirm the problem is the hood switch if the alarm does not go off again.
Afterwards, you can buy the replacement switch at your convenience. Inexpensive and not difficult for DIY replace.

My apologies as I didn't read your first post closely. This pattern issue is so often the hood switch that I replied reflexively.
I can't think of a scenario where a weak battery in the key fob would cause the alarm to go off. At worst, it won't unlock the doors and deactivate the alarm.
If your alarm is going off randomly without you having any engagement with the car, it sounds like a faulty alarm sensor. Did you run an OBD2 scan to check for codes?

The FOB battery has nothing to do with the alarm going off. It could possibly be that the Panic button on the FOB is failing or is dirty. FOBs can easily be bought on Amazon or eBay and the Autel AP200 will program a new one for your car.
It is more likely, however, that one of the sensors in your car for the doors or for the hatch is failing.

Doubt it's the remote, but I guess it's possible that the panic button is faulty. You can test that by storing the FOB far away from the car, or in a farady bag or tight metal box.
More likely a door sensor (not sure if the car has a cabin motion sensor).
