Changed coolant reservoir
Over the last few weeks the sensor on my coolant reservoir failed, and the tank developed a small leak, so I ordered a replacement tank on eBay and finally got around to installing it today. To my surprise, the bottom of the old reservoir was filled with a sludge like very wet mud, but it had not gone into the radiator because of the position of the coolant hose. Not hard at all to change. I dumped the bottom pressure clamp and replaced it with a screw-drive hose clamp, which will be much easier to remove the next time. The cap on the reservoir I bought did not lock and align the same way as the OEM cap, but I found that I could use the OEM cap with the new reservoir just fine. I threw the new cap into the toolbox as a spare. The float sensor connector fit just fine, same with the front drain hose connections. The low coolant level false error message is gone and no more loss of coolant.
