Engine failed on 2014 Land Rover LR2
I had a timing jump a few months ago and it turned out that the engine in my 2014 Land Rover LR2 had internal engine damage.
There is a technical service bulletin that mentions the symptom and repair which appear to match my situation. Land Rover Canada , along with the dealership ended up covering a good portion of the $15k repair....I've never seen a technical bulletin that mentions the engine as one of the parts to be replaced.https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...49082-9999.pdf

My understanding is that the problem was that a timing jump occurred and valve was stuck open. The engine had no compression. This is a 2.0L interference engine which can fail if there is a timing issue.

Coincidentally, the very same thing happened to me. The crank shaft was seized as well. I am religious about keeping fluids changed and allowing for a proper warm up before pressing the engine. This did happen in February on a morning where we were hitting -40C.
Land Rover came to the table with a new engine... no questions asked.
Quite happy with the service but was very surprised this happened at only 102000 KMs.
Let me add that during the repair, a cracked turbo was found and some deteriorated tie rod ends. They looked after that pro bono as well. I am immensely impressed.

I've been using MoS2 for three oil changes now and I always get compliments for how good my engine sounds. Like a well-oiled sewing machine. It is burning (definitely not leaking) about a quart every 2-3,000 miles or so but that's normal IMO. Just added a seal conditioner additive as well from Liqui-Moly for the most recent oil change less than a week ago. We'll see if that helps.

Anything that makes any engine perform quieter can't be a bad thing. It simply can't. BTW, I use the Ceratec in spring and fall oil changes.
EDIT: I had an off and on oil consumption issue about a year ago but, it's gone now and the only thing I did was the vacuum pump rebuild. I also reset the oil service message at the time of change and every two months until the next change. Being a bit OCD I have no idea if it works or not but I still do it.
