Default Freelander 2 no start no dash lights

Hi. Please help !!
Landrover Freelander 2 2010 model won’t start. I’ve checked all fuses, battery all good. Dashboard doesn’t illuminate. Power windows work. Interior light ok. Hazard lights work but not flashing on switch in cabin. Tried spare key makes no difference. was working fine last time used 3 days ago. Completely stumped !!
I know there has been previous discussions about this but no real answers to solve the issue. Any help greatly appreciated. TIA.

Now all fixed. See further down the thread for my solution. Hopefully this will help someone else out with the same problem!!

How did you check the battery? Sure sounds like the symptoms of low voltage.

Default No start Freelander 2

Hi thanks for your reply. I’ve had a pro come and check it and he says it’s all good no issues.

Did the "Pro" hook up a reader from the car and extract any fault codes?

A question? The red light that flashes on the dash has a regular locked and unlocked pattern. Is that pattern the normal pattern as before, locked and unlocked? I can't remember right now my pattern but what I can tell you is if that pattern materially changes (I have a 2008), it's could indicate "immobilizer mode" which I believe could share your symptoms. You will have to research google and yes, I would get the codes read ASAP. You can also go over to freel2.com and search "immobilizer mode".
Now, I could also be way off base and I hope so . Clearing/resetting codes could also be easy solution.

So I went over to freel2.com and did a search for immobilizer:
https://www.freel2.com/forum/search....&search_time=0

This thread was related to the i6:
https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic37...ht=immobilizer

Now, I could be over complicating the situation since reading and clearing each and every code could be the simplest solution but I'm a type "A" personality, my biggest strength and weakness

Yeah had a friend who’s in the know to clear all codes and full reset but unfortunately it didn’t do the trick. The steering column is locked so we’re starting with that. Going to remove the shear bolts tomorrow and fit an emulator to hopefully give power to the dashboard. I will update as soon as it’s done. Thanks for the advice.

Default Watching this thread with my fingers crossed

My 2007 freelander 2 has the same symptoms. (Key unlocks the car. Immobilizer light still flashes when key inserted. Steering lock doesnt unlock. Dash is off. No crank when you go to start it). My code reader can access all the modules except the cluster. I don't know if this is an issue with the cluster, the immobilizer, or just that the steering lock is stuck and that's stopping the rest from unlocking. Does anyone know how to rule out either of the first 2 (before I start dismantling the steering column)?

Default Freelander 2 no start

Hi Nicky,

I’ve now ruled out the steering lock by way of fitting an emulator. No difference I’m afraid. I’ve got an auto electrician coming over later today. I will update you on progress as and when we get to the root of the issue. I have been told by a few in the know it could well be a light cluster issue thou!!
