Front End Differential 2011 LR2
Hey guys, I’m back again. This time I have noise coming from the front end. It normally quiets down once I get over 50 miles. There’s also something leaking in my driveway. I took it to the shop and was told it was my front end differential. However, the shop can’t find the parts anywhere locally. I’m told that the labor would be 1,130. How much do you guys think the parts will cost me? Also if someone can post a pic of what I need I would appreciate it. I’m told I need a Front transfer case and front differential. Thanks ☺️

Get the parts (or an entire front differential) from a salvage yard. www.car-parts.com will help you find that. The labor is what it is. All you can is shop around or do it yourself.

You can also buy the bearings and seals from Atlantic British: https://www.roverparts.com/differentials/kits/FDK006K/

Thank you I submitted a request because nothing was located when I performed my search.

That happens sometimes. A request may turn up someone who has one and did not list it. Or as geotrash said, you can buy the consumables and replacement. The case is likely not leaking but seals and bearings will.

Do you think it needs an entire front end differential? I took it to a shop but not the Land Rover dealership. From what I’ve read the repairs and parts are expensive for this repair so I’m looking to trade it in.

If it needed an entire front end differential there would likely be something far worse going on that would prevent you from driving the car in the first place, rather than just leaking fluid. From my experience this means seals/bearings are leaking and need replacement. I have a hunch your mechanic is a bit lazy and would prefer replacing the whole thing rather than rebuilding it. If you are not used to doing medium difficulty tasks on your car on a DYI basis, and the repair at the dealership will be very expensive, I suppose you could trade it in. Up to you.
