Default Gas Smell, Right Rear Wheel Well

I noticed it after the car was driven.

2008 3.2i6

Any likely culprits? No CEL or codes.

Can you see if there are any leaks?

No sign of liquid but I didn't jack it up or crawl under it yet.

Did you over fill, codes?

Regardless, there is an evap canister in the DS rear wheel well behind the fender liner. It has an inline filter that can get clogged. I did a thread on replacing it on freel2.com.
LR sells the filter seperate for the Evoques but for the LR/FL, it's packaged with the evap canister and pricey.

Wife's daily driver, I don't think she overfills it, we've talked about that in the past.

I'm on a trip now, I'll check codes again when I get home.

Is that filter pretty easy to get to?

That was going to be my next guess after looking underneath. The canister for the EVAP system can get clogged, and it could also be a broken purge valve in the front, which could cause the canister to overfill.

Yeah, the filter isn't hard to access but the area behind the well liner gets a lot of mud trapped over the years so it will take some time.

It's the purge system, either the container or the purge valve near the intake manifold. Try the valve first, cheaper and easier to replace, and it is electrical so more likelihood of failure. I had to replace mine once.

I guess a good question would be where exactly is the gas smell coming from, which quad of the vehicle?
edit: right wheel well, passenger side? If so maybe a leak from a rusted fill pipe? Had that in a previous vehicle...
