Most likely a gen 3 haldex. Google gen 3 haldex kit....Volvo sells the fluid much cheaper than LR.

Default Haldex filter 2008 LR2

It’s early Monday morning. Thanks for the replies guys.
I believe it’s a Gen3 filter the smaller filter with the small spring. The people at FCP responded.I just found it in my junk mail. They need the vin number to verify the correct filter.
Ill send it to them today. TBC

Yes 2008 is always Gen 3. I think a later model year might have switched to Gen 4 mid-year.

OIL FILTER KIT AOC COUPLING OIL...
Amazon Amazon

normally, I wouldn’t use an aftermarket filter, but they look exactly the same so I went with it. It’s a lot cheaper available at Amazon.

Looking the same and being the same are two different things. Do you really think it's worth taking a chance on something so important? I sure as heck would not make that bet.

I’m sure you’re correct. The differential. was replaced at 40,000 miles like most of the LR two differentials I replaced the filter three years ago had approximately 80,000 miles with an aftermarket filter when I pulled it out yesterday it looked pretty decent and the rear has been OK and the Haldex unit it’s been OK no faults just keeping up on the service, I had a GEN 4 Borg Warner filter purchased it by mistake compared to the GEN three aftermarket and the GEN four identical maybe the guts were different. Maybe the check was slightly different but judging from the one I just pulled out which was close to four years old and then aftermarket I took a chance time will tell . Appreciate your professional input as always. Have a great night.
