Default HDC Fault

My wife's 2011 LR2 starting saying HDC Fault. Mechanics said needed 2k part to replace HDC system plus ABS light, Brake light. Now I see my LR3 saying same and same dash lights. But also see the forum maybe bad battery, burned out light, alignment sensor, alignment calibration.....? Hope not a 2k part on either
What is best way to narrow to issue?

It's a long shot, but it could be a weak battery. Have it checked and fully charged (disconnect the battery from the car before charging), then try it. I've had this happen to me but it goes away on its own after 1-2 cycles. And you need to use a scanner that understands the rest of the modules on the car. I use the iCarSoft 2.0. Works great for me. Doesn't cover 100% of the modules (you need to spend $$$$$ for that) but it covers what I need.

Yes... bought new battery prior lights. Later starting began dragging, so took battery back, checked but was fine. Had new starter on hand, installed and is excellent now.

FYI... two front power windows are not working. Will need to pull door card and see id actuator or motor. You can hear click sound if you push power window switch so power is bring sent.

With all those symptoms, you need to consider what all of those have in common. If you don't have a full scanner you should take it to a dealer. Looks like your mechanic doesn't have that scanner.

My LR3 did similar last week. Tracking that down through research, found usually battery, could be burned out light, ECU, brake switch, plus more. Seems to be a problem with many possibilities. I corrected my HDC Fault, Terrain Response Fault, ABS Fault, Brake Fault, all by replacing a couple light bulbs... Lucky I guess
