LR2 driver side armrest stuck upright

LR2 driver side armrest stuck upright
i have a 2013 LR2 with the driver side armrest stuck in the upright position. It won't move at all.
So, I figured I'd remove/replace it, but one needs to align the slot and the pin to remove it and... it won't move down.
Help! Any suggestions other than a saw?
