Default LR2 rear reflector fell off WTH

It was there, and then it wasn't. No obvious signs of tampering. It must have fallen off while driving. Must be those dang potholes!

There are different part numbers for Left (LR006349) and Right (LR006348) sides. You'd think they would just make a rectangular lens that fit on either side. Amazing.

For some reason with those non-symmetrical parts, usually one of the two has hundreds in stock, and the other is NLA. The one you need is always the NLA

I repaired my rear passenger side (I noticed it was loose when I pressure washed and I drilled and tapped the clip with a very short and small screw). Maybe the pass side is more susceptible and could explain the difference in inventory.

The OEM is $43 from the LR dealer for this plastic gem. So I just bought an aftermarket part on eBay for $10. Fingers crossed!

Update: I inserted the aftermarket $10 eBay lens and it fits like a glove! That's the good news

The bad news is that I hit it with a flashlight beam and it has no reflective qualities at all. Zippo. It's just a piece of red plastic. By comparison, the OEM lens on the other side reflects the light with high visibility.

Considering next step.

Update #2: I got a partial refund from the eBay seller for the aftermarket reflector that does not reflect any light. Then I found a used OEM reflector on eBay which I got for half the price of a new one. It fits perfectly, and testing with a flashlight proved that it actually reflects light (gasp!).

If you ever need to remove one of these reflectors that may be cracked or chipped or defective, this video demonstrates a technique for getting it off that I found helpful.
