Default New to LR2

Hi folks, just bought a used 2008 LR2 with 158k miles. Running very strong, transmission good to go, but it has some issues, the cabin blower is not working, check engine light on but I'm sure it has to do with the fuel cap message on the dash, bonnet says it is open when it is not, navi display flickers like a poorly tuned analog TV once in a while, small exhaust leak. Nothing major. Just a little body work and some plastics need replaced. Looking forward to getting schooled on this little beast.

The welcome replies are deafening. This must be a British forum.

This forum isn't that active

You may want to try Freel2 if you want a faster response

Here is a Thread that I created on Freel2 that lists typical Maintenance and Repair items for high mileage LR2's

https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic32504.html

Take care

Cabin blower not working?

Do you have heated seats?
Do they work?

If you change the fan speed wheel does the LED indicator light up to show your set point?

Does pressing the auto button turn off the LED's?

If you press the re-circulation button does the re-circulation flap move (its by the front passengers feet)

The reason that I am asking is because the HVAC controls are a module and the module could be broken.

If the module is working fine then the next thing to look at the fan motor and the Fan controller.

If the controller is broken then the fan won't spin. Or if the fan is broken it won't spin.

All the controls and seat heat are working fine, only the fan is not working. It's either the resistor pack or the fan. I'm going to try shorting the power wires to the fan to see if it turns. Either way I already have a resistor pack and I ordered the fan and a tool to remove it. $1000, mostly labor, is not in my budget. I fix helicopters, I'm sure I can handle this.

The bonnet warning is gone, it just wasn't closed properly. Engine check light was the fuel cap. But when I cleared the codes I also cleared memory and that cause it to fail inspection after I registered it. So I have a temp sticker, drive couple hundred miles and come back.

My fan doesn’t work either. If you idle for too long after it’s hot you will over heat at a stand still because without the fan to cool there isn’t enough flowing through at a stop. I’m not sure if it has to do with the PCM/ECM my blowers are crazy they pick sides some days. Even turned all the way off they will not stop blowing. I have replaced my heater core and I believed that to be the reason my lcd screen back light stopped. Maybe these symptoms are related. I am also searching for the cause:/
