Wait, i found this:

To test for blockage, Access a pressure point before the catalytic converter, install a back pressure gauge and measure the back pressure. Normal reading should be less than 9 kPa @ idle and less than 20 kPa @ 2500 RPM. A high reading indicates the catalytic converter may be damaged or blocked. To test efficiency, Hold the engine speed at 2500 RPM for several minutes to heat up the catalytic converter and allow engine to idle. Using a pyrometer (high temperature thermometer), measure the temperature of the exhaust pipe around 50 mm before and after the catalytic converter. The outlet temperature should be at least 40°C hotter than the inlet temperature. If not, the catalytic converter may be faulty.

I can do the temp test, I think, but not the pressure test. Also, we have two sets of converters on our LR2s. Not sure if this test really applies.
can you share a snapshot of the exact codes you are getting ?

Look at the first message in the thread. The errors are intermittent. The engine light comes on and then goes away on its own. I'm getting more detailed codes this weekend.

Bang on the cat with a rubber mallet and fingers crossed . Straight pipe that LR2 and get two O2 sensors decats , https://www.magnumtuning.com/en/deta...land-rover/lr2
Let me know how it works out

Looking at the two codes you mentioned, I would first fix p0037 ( bank 1 sensor 2 low heater circuit ) , since its either a downstream O2 sensor or a wiring issue , check the wiring for the heater circuit and if it checks out replace the O2 sensor Bank 1 sensor 2 and see how it goes , if you wanna avoid the wiring check swap the downstream bank 1 and bank 2 sensors , if the fault switches to bank 2 then you have a faulty sensor.

I decided to buy all four sensors. My car just hit 190,000 miles, that's well over the average lifespan of an o2 sensor, I have no idea when the sensors were last changed, if at all, and I found a good deal for a full set. When I get them I'll go buy the right tool and just get it done.

And a bottle of KatKlean or the CRC Guarantee to Pass. I was surprised by the results. In fact its now part of my spring clean up process to run a bottle of this.
Do the fuel trims look good…. usually a rich running engine or a sloppy (malfunctioning) injector leads to blocked cats….
I put 200 cell cats on the xkr…. but then had to add short bungs to the down streams in order to stop throwing codes. Its been fine for 5 years, since.
Its of interest to me that 91octane (non ethanol) will never result in a thrown code no matter how hard I hit the pedal. Not so with Ultra 94.

As for dumping the cats… I wouldn’t do that to mother nature even if it was legal.
Cheers.

You got lucky , i spent a 150 usd for an O2 sensor and it turned out to be a wiring issue , thats why i decided to chk the resistance and swap next time to confirm the fault b4 replacing , good job man , were the upstream sensors hard to access?
