Default roaring sound

Hello, new to this. I just purchased my first land Rover lr2 2009. I got a roaring sound coming from the rear, when I let off of the gas, but stops when I press the gas, What could this be?

The rear diff usually fails by 85K miles, if it fails at all. How many miles on this vehicle?

Rear diff needs a rebuild with upgraded kit.

The failure starts with a whine, but can be driven for a long time after that. 10K miles in my case, only got a little worse before we replaced it. so it could maybe get north of 100K before actual failure, presumably making more noise over time.

Did you use a rebuild kit, like this one? DIY or a local transmission shop?
