Default Surgery is successful!

My mechanic successfully removed the 211k mile engine from my 2008 LR2 that had a coolant leak into cyl 4 and installed a replacement engine from another 2008 LR2 that had only 20k miles. Runs like a champ. Let's hope for another 17 years...

Now I have to find the bolts to mount the old engine on my Harbor Freight engine stand and start taking it apart. Another fricking project. LOL!

For those of you who are wondering, the cost was just under $6k including the engine w/shipping from the PA salvage yard to my mechanic. A fraction of what a decent used car with who knows what history would have cost me. Better the devil you know than the one you don't.

Did you look only LR2 engines or you included Volvo engines as well?

The odds of finding a 2008 Volvo S80 engine with less than 20k miles and less than $1k with shipping to Mass? Less than zero.

Ok, today is the day I have to back up the old Mercedes to my garage and use my engine hoist to extricate my old engine out the back so I can put it on the engine stand.

If I don't come back, send flowers... or something like that.

So what's the latest? Have you been able to tear into the old engine? If so, what have you found?

It's on a pallet in my driveway waiting for the weather to cooperate so I can lift it, remove the rear plate, find the mount holes, put it on the stand and drag it into the garage.

When you have a chance, please post pics of the other two sides so we have a full 360 view.

Did the engine seller remove the fuel injectors and rail?
