Default Tire fitment

I've got a 2014 LR2 with 18 inch wheels, running 235/60R18 tires. I may come into some 255/70R18. Same make and model tire. Any problems running that bigger size? On the same wheels? Clearance, rubbing, speedometer? Anything? TIA.

The options for tire sizes on the LR2 are:
  • 215/75R16
  • 225/65 R17
  • 235/65R17
  • 235/60R18
  • 235/55R19
Of course you have to match the rim diameter. On the 18 inch only the 235/60R18 is recommended.

Go to freel2.com and do a search on the topic. In addition are the 255/70R18 new or used as that may also affect fit? I'd think you might be maxing your clearance and also putting quite a load on your Haldex system and diffs. Speedo will definitely be off.

It would appear you may be able to get a 255/60R18 to fit BUT, do your research!

LOL, I luv this discussion.

As all know, I took a different approach for my off road tires.

Many think my off roads are too large. I disagree. And I have the experience of dragging a tractor out of a bog to prove it.
But I don’t care if my speedo is a whopping 5% off.

Mind you, I took a different approach again for my winters. Here we have SNOW, FREEZING RAIN, SNOW, FREEZING RAIN… And temperatures fluctuating between 0 and near -40C. So higher profile tires on smaller rims work best… for the strictly winter rubber, highly siped with microbit walnut shells.
The all seasons are shyte when it dips that low. And feel like Fred Flintstone’s tires.

I think it's fair to say almost no one but you uses their LR2 to drag tractors out of a bog, so I am not sure using you as an example is a good thing.

Ground clearance is a major plus when off roading and dealing with water. What is you current setup, rim and tire combo?
