Default At 100Kilomiles, warranty up

All,

I hope this topic hasn't been beaten to death, but I have to ask. I'm also posting this in the Disco forum so it will be interesting to see the difference in the responses.

Anyway, as the subject says, I'm at 100K miles on my 2003 Disco HSE. I love it, it's serving(ed) me well. I've got the OME 2 inch lift (with the SLS spacers) and brand new BFG ATs on it, black procomp(I think) steel wheels

It's my daily driver, I also tow my (3000LB)camper with it, I 4-wheel with it when I'm tent camping or just messing around etc... I shove my road bike and/or mountain bike in the back and head out for the weekend. It's AMAZING off road, and I love doing some of the crazy trails around here.

My dilema. I've had my share of problems with it and if it weren't for the warranty I'd be living on the streets from the cost of the repairs. So, now that the warranty is up, do I buy a used LR3, or Keep the Disco? I'm worried I'll won't get the performance out of the LR3 that I get/got out of my Disco. Towing, offroad, interior space etc...

What do you all think? 100K miles keep it or switch out to an LR3?

Thanks,
Brian

I'm on the other side..I just bought mine new and am trying to decide if I should pay the $4-6K to purchase the extended warranty. I have read a lot of reviews that says I should be prepared for some huge costs for repairs (especially for the air suspension). What do you all think about paying between $4,000 to $6,000 (depending on deductible) for an extended warranty through Land Rover?

I paid about $5K for mine. WELL WORTH THE MONEY. I'd never buy a Rover (or probably any other vehicle) without it. Holy crap, that warranty paid for itself at least 3 times with all the repairs I've had to do.

Look at it like this, If your AC goes out. you're looking at well over $1000 maybe $2K. Your airbag suspension WHEN that breaks, THOUSANDS, heck, my Nav system when that went out the invoice was nearly $2000.

I added up my invoices that have been covered by my warranty and it's approaching what I paid for my Discovery. I'd had have been broke with out it.

Wait for the factory warranty to expire and buy the extended warranty. However, don't buy a 3rd party one. Buy the Land Rover warranty from your service adviser at the dealer. I did my research on it and It's by far the best. The 3rd party warranties have soo many loopholes and things that are not covered. The Land Rover warranty was simple.

"We cover everything except rubber (hoses and belts), cosmetics (trim, carpet, etc) and consumables (brakes, tires, filters and I want to say the O2 sensor). That's it. Simple and I haven't had any problem with getting anything covered. I'm telling you it was the best investment I've ever made.
