2006 HSE Purchase
Hello everyone.
I have already introduced myself in the new member forum but wanted to tell everyone about the task I am going to undertake. I hope to gain a ton of knowledge and I am looking forward to my new rig.
Recent purchase = 2006 HSE / Silver on black. 161,000 two owner seller states head gasket repair needed.
I bought the LR3 because I have Land Rover ownership experience and after looking at other vehicles in the third row SUV search my wife and I would rather have an LR3 that needs a head gasket or new motor than any other SUV we test drove to date.
There has not been a compression test or vacuum test done. PO stated it overheated because of a broken thermostat housing. It has been fixed but the truck smokes heavy white smoke on start up and the smoke slows after it runs for a bit. Obvious knock form the top end of motor. No coolant in the oil per visual inspection. Could not isolate the coolant loss and no loss per visual inspection after running it for a while. However, an incredible amount of pressure was built up in the short period of time it did run.
Ok, so the plan is to get it transported to my garage and to evaluate the head gasket issue with some testing and go from there.
I know that a used motor might come into play at some point but I am prepared to cover that cost. So that is my deal and thanks for having me.
Cheers,
Shaun

Special Delivery
Here are some photos of the new rig.
I have a bunch more but figured I would start with these.
Are the TV's in the headrests stock? I don't have pics of inside yet because we spend the majority of the late afternoon cleaning her.
I have videos but can't seem to format them from QuickTime to a suitable format to upload here.
