Hello All,
I'm running out of ideas. I have a 2006 LR3 with 200K miles. Recently having random failures that are causing all the dash lights to go on... Dash lights
The suspension lowers and I get a transmission fault as well as HDC Fault.
I've replaced the brake switch and all the tail lights are working.
I've attached a report my scan tool put out. A LOT of temporary and Intermittent codes. Only one that is Permanent.
I can clear the codes and things will be fine for a short amount of time, then all the codes come back and the suspension lowers.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the info. Brake switch is from Land Rover. Not sure if I could have installed it wrong. I’ll need to check. I live in the desert so water may not be the issue. We are just getting finished with monsoon.
QUOTE=SeattleDriver;839684]You are having issues with your CAN bus network. Possibly a chaffed wire or corrosion at a connector.
Start checking for signs of water intrusion. There are many threads about these sources (sun roof drains, cowl panel, a pillar, etc.)
Edit: brake switch is still listed as an “intermittent” code. Verify it’s installed correctly and perhaps try another from a reputable brand.[/QUOTE]
I think bad rear brake lamps can also cause brake switch faults? Either way, I would replace em. More than a few threes about funky brake lamps causing issues or having them installed wrong.
W the CAN bus network. If there has been water intrusion and these wires are corroding - where do you get these fixed. Will a LR mechanic know what to do or do you go to a specialist?

If the connectors have mild corrosion, I have heard electrical contact cleaner can be enough to remedy. Bigger issue is if the corrosion has impacted a circuit board as is often the problem with the TCCM (located under the battery). That generally has to be replaced, but maybe an electronics repair service could salvage it.
For general diagnostics, a good Land Rover specific Independent mechanic or an automotive electrician should be find be able to find the fault source expediently.
Thank you for your help. I will check the circuit board. I was concerned with the corrosion of the wires under the passenger side molding. My key fob isn't working and I heard of an easy fix with the wires located in that space. Also dealing w/ this suspension fault.
Once upon a time, I got the bright idea to replace my 2007 LR3 brake lights with LED lights. LED lights were brighter, but it was not a bright idea. Got all sorts of dash lights...don't remember which ones...but I put the original brake lights back in and the problem was solved.
