Default 2006 LR3 lower brake lights out

We have our lower (hatch) left and right brake lights not working on our 06 LR3 with no dash warning light. The top brake light is working fine. Running lights and signal lights are also working fine.
I have already changed the filament bulbs (the bulbs were not burnt out) on both sides with OEM replacements and changed the #15 brake light/brake switch fuse (which has not burned out).
Several months ago the brake switch went bad (with the brake warning light reading yellow), and the dealer replaced that part for us. When the brake switch went out all three brake lights were not working versus just left and right as of now.
Not sure what to look at and/or try now.
Thanks in advance

I have this exact same problem. Did you find the solution? Does anybody have any other suggestions?

Yes. Simple fix. Don't do anything.

That's the way the lights are supposed to work. You do not actually have "lower" brake lights. Yes, dual filament bulbs are used in those locations, but they are not brake lights and as far as I am aware, the second filament is never used.

As long as the lower bulbs light up as running/parking lights, then you are fine.

Default correct, only two plus one

You may wish to look at the link below and then call up the wiring pdf, print it off and study it at your convenience. The brake light circuit can cause lots of problems, hence the more you know of it, the better.

Yes, per the post above, only the upper bulb in each tail light illuminates, plus the high mount red LED unit located in the centre top of the upper hatch.

As to why the unused filament in the bulb under, I suspect it has something to do with the Euro tail light setup.

The 1st photo shows the truck with basic running lights on.

The 2nd photo shows the truck with running lights and brakes applied.

The 3rd photo shows the truck with running lights and rear fog lights on.

The 4th photo shows the truck with running lights, rear for lights, and brakes applied.

Hope this clears up some confusion.

Default Help

It is not normal to have 1 brake light working and the 2 lower brake lights not working. The Running lights work fine. Did any one ever get an answer to this. I am leaning to a bad switch or fuse.

The brake lights are only on the top... the lowers are just running lights. Sounds like you have a bad upper brake light bulb.
