Default 2007 LR3 V6 4L. Timing chain replaced

Hello All.
Had an indy garage replace the timing chains and associated parts. It was a learning curve for the mechanic but after locating all the tools and reading a ton of info the engine is back and running. The it is reporting misfire codes on cylinders 2,3,4.
Compression on all cylinders is 150-149. Plugs are brand new. Spark looks solid on all as well.
We are a bit stumped. Any thoughts? Thank you

Thanks. I don’t think they have looked there. I will pass your suggestion along. Appreciate your input.

Out of curiosity, what did they charge you and what part of the country are you in? Thanks

Hey Geo. I’m in Ontario Canada. $2700. They based this number on what was in their quoting system for a Ford 4L. The mechanic Craig, is a young guy and really wanted the experience. He had never worked on a Land Rover and very excited to learn. Not sure if his enthusiasm is quite as high now. He’s been working on it for 6 weeks now. The shop and especially Craig have been great to work with and if anyone is looking for a shop in Bruce County let me know. I checked with several shops including Land Rover dealers, no one was too interested in doing the work. The ones that did offer quotes ranged from $5000 to $9000 for replacing the timing components or replacing with a used motor. Thanks for the message. Long answer to a straight forward question.

Just a quick update. Cylinders 2-4-6 are misfiring. Cylinders 1-3-5 firing normal. Is there anything common to cylinders 2-4-6?

They are on the same bank, so yes. all the components on that bank.

Hi Abran. Just to close off on your first suggestion “loose ground”. The techs cleaned all the grounding points today without change.
Since these misfires are all coming from the same bank, is it possible when they reinstalled the flex plate it could have been misaligned and cause this result?

I’m not 100% sure, but I do t believe that motor does not have a flex plate, so I’m assuming you mean ring gear/flywheel.

if it was misaligned I would guess that it would effect both banks.

are the misfires constant, like no fire at all on that bank or sporadic?

if no fire at all, I would guess internal mechanical issue.

if sporadic I would guess electrical or vacuum leak.

Morning. I have a subscription to All Data DIY and it shows a flex plate in the specs for this engine. Either way your point is good. If they did misalign, it would affect both banks.

The mis fire counter on the reader increases on cylinders 2-4-6 but they are firing. For example cylinder 4 had 95 mis fires in 1000 revolutions. So sporadic would be accurate.

I will talk to the mechanics this week and share your thoughts. Appreciate your help.
