Default 2009 LR3 Vehicle System Fault

Hello all,

I have an 09 LR3 with about 170K miles on it and within the past couple of days Ive been getting an intermittent "vehicle system fault" where my center dash shuts down, TPMS failure, hazards come on still runs great but wont start if it shut it down while its going through all of this. However, if it does go into it fault mode while Im driving it will sometimes come back on for the rest of my drive or it will go on and off a few times, sometimes it just stays off. If I shut it off while its doing it I have to let it sit anywhere between 1-30 minutes and it will start.

Ive got a ton of "Lost Communication" codes between 9 different modules and the vehicle dynamics system and/or the instrument cluster module. I can provide codes if need be.

Things Ive tried:
Hard Reset
Ive checked my battery, im getting 12.7V with it off and 13.9-14.1V with it running, load test on battery was excellent.
Checked and Cleaned most grounds. (That I knew of and could find) They looked great but cleaned them anyways.
Reset and cleared all codes with Autologic
Tested all Fuses (Good)
Tested key battery (3.3V)
Removed Radio and cleaned contacts for the plugs (Contacts looked Excellent)
Removed Instrument cluster and inspected board/cleaned plug contacts (Board and contacts looked Excellent)
Cleaned plug contacts on Climate Control (Looked Excellent)
Checked Splices for coil over conversion EAS (Perfect)

I haven't checked the TPMS module or the vehicle dynamics module yet but I dont know where theyre located on the vehicle. At this point im suspecting some kind of internal board failure in one of the modules and Ive done a bunch of research which all points to the instrument cluster and with all the communication faults im suspecting it as well. But I am trying to exhaust all of my options before I go throwing a Dash at it. Just curious if anyone else has been in this situation before and if they can give me any pointers to fix this thing. In the meantime I got my Bad A** D1 I can drive

If most codes start with a "U" then that's just information but can assist in finding the problem. I suggest you try and work out how the modules are connected to the "Can" bus (someone on here may know). the highest "U" error module would indicate the module not receiving the right information. The problem is then upstream from this module or the module itself is faulty. The instrument cluster is a known problem with "dry joints" on the connectors and/or some of the chips.

Did you ever figure out the issue?

I had this and the repair was a "new" instrument cluster. You can use a used one if you have a Gap tool.

If you own a mongoose cable and SDD it can be solved pretty easily because from my experience the software or code on the modules gets f***ed up on their own (well not on their own but i think you get what i mean) and usually resetting the "faulty" module/s or re-configuring it/them fixed most of my cases like that. If you need help with that pm me but if you got no software and all that jazz just go to a specialist in your area it wont be a very long process.

Default Look at the HVAC control head

There was another thread with similar problems but a different result. HERE

Not sure it will fix your problem, but offering some easy/cheap things to try.

Hope this helps

yes, the codes will help. Do you have any codes that aren't "U" codes? Sometimes those codes will point you to the electrical fault.
