Default Air distribution problems need assistance!

Hi Fellas & Gals..

First thread I'm posting here, I've found this site as a priceless wealth of knowledge!!

I just picked up an 2006 LR3 se with 65k mile and super clean but I'm having issues with the hvac system.. I can not get the air distribution buttons on the left side of the main control panel to shuffle between defrost vents, front dash vents or foot vents. When I push between those three buttons it simply stays set at front dash vents and sounds like there's no movement of blend actuator motors or blend doors? Any input on which side of the truck "it" or " they" are located? I tried the "Econ" and recirc recalibration process but the Econ won't even light up when I hold the two buttons down and turn on the ignition. The Econ light will illuminate otherwise if the system is powered up normally. I have a temp control panel ordered..also noticed that the rear ac heat is completely dead at this point from the front dash controls and also the overhead rear controls..... Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

Well going off the principal of Occam's razor, it sounds like you have a single problem with many symptoms rather than many single problems. I would consult your owners manual and reference the fuse block schematic. Check all the fuses that remotely sound like there are connected to your A/C system

Thanks for the tip, I should've mentioned that I've checked any fuses related to the hvac system, I'm hoping that someone knows of the location of the blender actuator that is controlling the blend door which opens or closes the defrost vents/ main front dash vents/ floor vents. It is stuck blowing out of the main front dash vents only, I should also state that the blower is only blowing hot air? Even when the outside air is quite cool. Almost like it won't open for fresh air to enter the truck?...

It sounds like the valve has gone bad, this is the "fart" valve, that activates and makes a fart noise behind the glove box area. I left it for the dealer to replace, the part is inexpensive but the labor was a couple hours if I recall. I think it is called the "blend door" or something like that.

Thanks I do hear that "fart" sound when the system turns on and off, if I take the cabin filter out I can see that door open and close so I assumed it is working but needs to be greased to stop the noise otherwise it was working ok?.. What did they tell you about the door? Did that noise mean it was sticking or just dried out and making noise but otherwise functioning ok?..
Thanks!

If you are hearing the fart noise, then it probably isn't working right. I spend a few hours trying to fix it by lubrication, worked for a couple weeks and started again.. they were defective from the get go..

I didn't think the fart noise was a real problem....

My greasing of the door seems to have lasted a long time so far, but I will say that it was a huge PITA to do. I mean, the procedure is very simple and shouldn't take too long, but for me, removing the interior part of the upper glove box was near impossible. I leveraged all my weight and pulled and pulled for (not exaggerating here) about 1.5 hours. Those metal snaps/barbs were in there sooooo tight that it just didn't want to let go. The grease definitely fixed the problem though and it has not come back since I did it. Maybe a year ago?

Smile Hmmm I'm stumped...

I received the new temp control unit and installed it into the dash this afternoon and all of my symptoms are still the same... Does the new temp control panel need to be re-programmed by a LR dealer? It still will not cycle between defrost vents front vents or floor vents, also still no cold air coming through vents but the dealer that I bought the truck from assured us the ac system was just checked and is functioning as it should. The rear ac and heat blower is also not working from either the front temp control unit or the rear ceiling control unit. Any other ideas?
Thanks so much for all the great feed back!

Hi. Any update on your Hvac issues? I am experiencing similar issues. Phil
