Default Air intake hose question.

Took my truck in yesterday to have my thermostat assembly replaced. Mechanic said the previous shop was wrong and I didn't have a crack in the assembly. He just fixed leak from one of the hoses. This morning I got the P1074 code and I'll called the mechanic to recheck the work he did. (I also heard a very faint vacuum/suction sound yesterday as I drove home) He removed the engine cover and checked all the hoses and the hose in red was damaged. Seemed to be damaged from placing the engine cover back on. He acknowledged that most likely happened at the shop and is going to glue it temporarily and if I'm not satisfied, he was going to eat the cost and pay for the part and do the labor for free. He also showed me the hose he repaired, in green. While he was holding the part, barely moving it, the plastic blowoff valve broke and spewed hot coolant all over the place. He ordered that part (two hoses and the T and blow-off valve) and it's being worked on as we speak.

One question I have is, would you risk having (the part in red) basically superglued or should I just have him buy a whole new one and replace it ASAP?

Sorry for the long post.

No way in hades would I have him superglue it. Even if you paid for the part, he should put it in for free. Also, the plastic bleeder-T is a piece of crap. You can get a brass one and replace it. A lot of us have done that...

Have him replace the part completely... You're not doing yourself any favors by letting him skate by.

And ditto what houm said. Just replace the plastic T with a brass fitting. You'll never need to use that valve anyway.

Yeah don't glue it. Who knows how long the glue will hold, or if it'll form a complete seal. That part is 2 minutes to swap out, so labor is nothing. The part on the other hand, is probably stupid expensive.

Why did he replace the coolant hoses? Should be no need to replace the hoses if the bleeder T valve is the issue.

Might be that for a while, the bleeder t was one part number by itself, but there was another (more common) part number that included the T fitting, clips, and the two hoses on either side.

Also, you can find a brass fitting WITH the valve too. I found one...sort of spendy for what it is/does, but when it comes to the LR3 I pull out all the stops.

Can you give us a link? Is the valve a continual one way type valve or manual?

Thanx...

Its just a bleeder. Its the highest point in the cooling system and air bubbles rise to the top. I never use it (I vacuum bleed) and a brass connection works just fine.
