Default Air Intake Hose Question

I was changing my purge value last weekend and the plastic piece on the Air Intake Hose that connects to the IAC Hose snapped right off. Upon inspection, it looked like epoxy was used to put it together. I tried a heavy duty epoxy and reassembled it, but now a week later it looks like it is starting to pull loose again. Anyone else had an issue with this and any ideas regarding a way to bond this piece back to the air hose?

Really don't want to spend $150 on a big hunk of plastic...

I have some people use J-B Weld with some success, other wise it is time for a used hose. Check out Will and Paul in my signature for a good deal.

Default Fixed it

I had tried to use a high powered epoxy and that had started to come loose, so I figure JB weld would probably do the same.

There is a thread on here where someone essentually used plumbing parts to get the job done:

I found the 1/2" stuff to slim to fit the hose onto so I used a 3/4" Brace to PVC, which fits snug in both the hole in the Intake and in the hose. I can post a pic if anyone is interested, it is definitely very sturdy.

Go by a used one, once that hose starts cracking it will continue.

I used RTV, it held really well. You want to bond rubber with something flexible like RTV, not rigid like epoxy or JB weld (same thing as epoxy). Just clean the area really well and get rid of all the oil residue otherwise nothing will stick. I replaced my hose with a good used part since I found one for cheap, I tossed the old one in my parts bin just in case.

Not sure what type of plastic it is but if it is polyethelyne you can try welding it. If you have a soldering iron this will work just fine and you may just have to purchase the plastic rods. Urethane Supply Plastic Welding Kit ATV#

It's a rubber hose attaching to the plastic intake hose. The plastic tears out and does not leave you much to work with, I'm guessing any heat is going to shrivel the plastic up and leave you with a bigger hole. I just slapped copious amounts of RTV around the hose and it stuck like crazy, but not very pretty.

Here are some pics of both the piece and the install, I clamped it but these are without the clamp. The 3/4" was definitely tight but the plastic that I was inserting it into is very flexible and rubbery, so I essentially just screwed it in, then did a clear latex silicone around the outside, (also after the pics).

Let me know what you think.
