Ok so after all the above drama the OEM block just arrived and ..... the airlines slid right in, just as the workshop manual says. The crap non-OEM fittings kind of disintegrated as I was removing them from the air lines, they were complete trash and likely the source of all these problems.
So again to recap, for anyone reading this in the future:
1) Make sure you get an OEM block for the correct end of the car.
2) The airlines should slide right into the new fittings. Be sure to give them a tug after insertion so the retaining clips/rings fully engage.
That's the whole thing! Probably the easiest job I've completed on this truck (once I had the correct part). I also weighed the non-/OEM blocks to compare and the non-OEM block weighed a full 15% less than the OEM block. The plastic also feels a bit cheaper on the non-OEM, and the mold is a bit less refined (? might be the word). The fittings were the biggest difference, they are lightyears nicer.
I am hoping someone can help and answer here on the Voss fittings and the insert pipes on the new compressor kit. I have just installed the new AMK compressor and went with the AMK as the unit in there was a 2016 Arnott rebuild with a funky mount plate and they never made a clamshell cover for it that I could find. So....unprotected and noisier than I wanted. It all works great. But, I re-used the main fitting and hose from the previous install, but I am not thrilled about one small place that it touches and could rub the control arm area in the future. The kit did come with a new pipe that is detailed and called for in the LR bulletin. However, I think the bulletin is missing a step or is just unclear. My basic question is if the lines have, should have if possible, do not require the brass sleeve or, what calls for a brass insert or not. Let me explain. LR bulletin here also.
I think the bulletin is missing a step. Am I correct that an air line insert should also be inserted into one end of the replacement pipe as marked below and item 13 on the bulletin? The kit comes with 2 and the instructions only reference putting one air-line insert in the cut line in item 10.
Does that also mean that with only 2 in the kit then no insert goes in the end that goes into the Voss plug as below?
Hi johnsonmc2000
I'm doing the AMK swap at the moment. Did you figure out where the two small brass air line inserts go? What about the two larger air line inserts?

sorry I don’t remember exactly. I think the kit came with extra pieces for varies installs and that was what confused me. I know that I used the same air line and Voss plug that went into the old unit. It went directly into the end and tightened correctly. I’ve had no issues and I put a small pad of rubber on the suspension piece it seems to hit and there has been no wear on the line. What replacement did you get? Can you post the link if it shows all the pieces or photos what it came with?
