Default Air Suspension Replacement Kits

My LR3, it's a 2007 and I'm wondering when the dreaded air suspension repair/replacement event will loom shortly around some corner. I notice my compressor is pretty damn loud. It seems to loudly discharge air when I shut off the vehicle. The dealer says everything fine now, but ... fine until when.

Questions:

How many years should I expect from this system?
What parts typically fail first?
What parts could I stock pile?
In veracity of Ottawa Ontario, beside the dealer (or is the dealer's shop the best place to go) which mechanic has done this that can be recommended?

I've been looking at Suncore product line up, the kit is almost 4K and doesn't include a compressor or lines. Has anyone used it?

My 2007 started intermittent "normal height only" message and the codes indicated "pressure rises too slowly". I probably might have gotten away with changing out the dryer assembly on the compressor as when I took it apart the silica in there had turned to powder and was probably restricting airflow. In the end I got a great price online for the new AMK compressor and fitted it costing total $600. No problems now. I've been told the rest of the system generally is reliable - the old Hitachi compressors not so much.

YMMV ;-)

How many miles did you have on your vehicle? Do you take it off road or are these miles through normal use?

With faultmate, do you update software using the genesis website?

If so, I'm hoping you can help me understand how it works. I cannot quite figure out which software I need to get. I see you can filter by hardware number and also assembly number. Do I need to match BOTH on the new software? Because if so, I cannot seem to find anything.

Also, when you log in, do you have access to the telephone software? There are some bluetooth improvements, but for some reason they don't list it on the site for LR3.

I have a 2007 as well, and had mine replaced August of this year with about 45K miles on the odometer by my local Land Rover specialist shop (not the dealer). The shop owner also has an '07 LR3 and replaced his air suspension with traditional springs with a lift kit. It looks awesome and no more worries about the air leaks or software. I thought about it, but I tow a travel trailer and like the automatic load leveling. Have you ever thought about going to traditional springs?

I also like the load leveling. The air springs are pretty robust. And I think the compressors aren't horrible and sometimes get replaced when just a dryer would do.

Default Faultmate is the full meal deal.

The Faultmate is what I would call the full meal deal - you can do anything the dealer can do and more.

As far as where you get the software, rather than what I would call the Geneses site, I would use the term, the BlackBox site, or more correctly the Faultmate login given to those who have purchased a Faultmate.

The Genesis product is something new and still under development. Additionally there is something called the NanoCom for the 3 which is a piece of hardware that I gather will communicate with the Genesis site.

How the new setup works, or will work, I am not clear but I think it is more like what the dealer does when he is out of ideas. The dealer logs into Land Rover England and the "boffins" there take control of the 3, (or 4), and do all the updating and trouble shooting from the UK via the internet.

In our case, we would have a prior arrangement with someone perhaps in the UK or USA, (but could be next door or anywhere in the world the internet serves), who understands our vehicles and has not only the Genesis, but also a Faultmate, and the multi vehicle license. He would then attempt the fix and we would pay him money.

There are two flavours of Faultmate, one without a LCD display which is a bit cheaper than the one with the digital readout. BlackBox markets complete kits so to speak, that is hardware, software, and access to software updates, plus a single vehicle license.

My understanding is that the Faultmate is not plug and play - as with all things Land Rover there is a long tortuous learning curve - that is the reason for the development of the Genesis - you connect your 3 over the internet to someone who knows, cross your fingers and open your wallet.

The link is to the BlackBox page with all the various product variations available. The SV222 is the D3/LR3 single vehicle kit with the Extreme Vehicle Server. The NCOM40 is the NanoCom Evolution for D3 and maybe the LR3 and I do not yet see the Genesis stuff listed.

I've got a nanocom, with the new updates for 3. And I've got access to the genesis site. I'm just trying to figure out which code I need. There are many and I'd hate to "brick" a computer by mistake.
