I forgot to mention I had zero coil sticking issues - slight rotational wiggle both directions then pulled straight out.

Dip stick..
Honestly I have a couple assorted o-ring sets at the shop and brought the dip stick over and messed around till I found one. It seemed thinner than stock and was snug on the dipstick but WOW I could barely get it back in tube, so maybe the old one had become "squishy".

For the plugs..
I couldn't find my plug socket at first (w/ rubber insert) and I'm glad - alternative plan worked way better.

Regular 3/8 ratchet, 2x short extensions, and a deep-well 5/8 socket.
Dropped deep well and one extension first, then attached second and ratchet. Broke plug free till spinning easily, disconnected ratchet and upper extension and spun out by fingers (will be almost entirely in the tube FYI).

Then I just bent the last 4" of a magnet stick wire thing and plug comes right out.

I was taking them out pit crew style after the first couple. I suppose a plug socket would have done the same, but for some reason this seemed easier lol.

I DID find that plug socket later and used it to reinstall. Same deal, insert plug into socket w/ one extension, screw it in BY HAND first. I did all 8 like this, then w/ ratchet and second extension I tightened them all, then installed all coils, then bolted and plugged in all coils. This way I only swapped tools a couple times. Spec is 24lb-ft I think but you can feel crush washer snug up then a tiny extra pull and that's it. FWIW they all tightened equal, nothing seemed odd.

No swivels were used in the production of this post.

 

Somehow got a video that actually captured the noise! You might want to play it on something with good mid-low speaker performance. This was from the driver side wheel well basically touching the "frame rail" towards rear lower corner of engine.

Damn it's actually more noticeable in the video.

Okay well actually this noise is probably unrelated to the vibration, but this freaks me out way more as well. Very few things can make a noise like that which aren't serious.

 

EstorilM, can you tell us when precisely in the video it's easiest to hear it? I watched/listened twice but I couldn't hear anything so profound that I said "oh THAT noise."

There's an intermittent lower frequency "knocking" noise, but again it may only be audible with larger speakers or headphones since there's so much HF noise as well.

 

I can hear it, but I honestly don't know enough about these trucks yet to know what it could be. It's similar to a sound my dual mass flywheel makes on my manual car, but obviously these don't have a flywheel.

 

Okay...THAT sound. I played it with headphones on and I can hear it.

Mine does that too.

 

I hear two noises:

>one constant (I have this noise too, maybe a bit lower, to me this was always injector noise) throughout the video

>one that fades in and out, a sort of thumping, low knock? Is this the one you are talking about

 

Mine makes this same knocking noise. I can hear it in the cabin too if radio and HVAC is off.
