2005. When the car first starts in cold 20 degree weather the blower motor and heat respond well to get the cabin to the set temperature. However, once the car has been warmed up and I go in a store for a half hour or so, the blower motor and temperature do not surge or respond as quickly to maintain the cabin temperature it seems. If I have the cabin temp set to 76 and the car has sat overnight, the blower and the temperature work loud and fast to get the car to 76. If the cabin drops to 60 the car seems to just sort of sip or slowly respond to get the car back to 76.
Try cleaning the interior ambient air temperature sensor. Its behind a tiny plastic grill on the dash. They get covered in dust and if really bad cause delays in temperature readings. But more importantly, make sure its air tube is hooked up. Air has to pass the sensor for it to get a reading, so if this tube is not hooked up it will get bad data for the system to figure out. The far end of the tube should be hooked up near the blower motor. Of course the sensor itself could be bad.
